We’d like to say a huge thank you to AGE UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove and Bradshaw Lodge Care Home (Crystal Care Collection) for partnering with us to deliver our recent Cook & Connect course at our Chichester food bank centre.
Over four fantastic weeks, participants came together to learn new cooking skills, build confidence in the kitchen and enjoy time with others in a warm and welcoming environment. From healthy budget-friendly meals to practical batch-cooking tips, the sessions offered something valuable for everyone involved.
Most importantly, the course created meaningful social connections and gave people the confidence to try new things. The feedback from attendees has been wonderful to hear:
“I learnt a lot and it was good company as well. And I enjoyed the food!”
“Everyone was so friendly and helpful.”
“This has been such a good course introducing new recipes, giving me confidence, and a lovely social occasion. Excellent.”
“I enjoyed myself so much and I thank everybody who organised all this.”
It’s clear the course made a real difference, not only by teaching practical skills but by bringing people together and creating a supportive community atmosphere. Every participant also received a slow cooker, courtesy of CLM Fireproofing via Hyde's Match My Project scheme, and a recipe book.
A huge thank you to everyone involved, including the professional chefs, organisers and all who attended and helped make Cook & Connect such a success.
We look forward to collaborating with AGEUK and Bradshaw Lodge in the future.
