After a summer break, our weekly Stand Stronger Together group will return to our Chichester food bank centre on Tuesday 18 August with an expanded programme - offering more opportunities for people to access practical wellbeing support.
Stand Stronger Together is a valued part of our community, where people can enjoy a shared meal, meet others and spend time together. Over the past year, we've listened to people who attend our groups and activities, as well as those who come to us for emergency food, to better understand the challenges people are facing. We’ve heard that many people need more than food support, with challenges including the rising cost of living, loneliness, health, housing, finances, employment, caring responsibilities and family life.
In response, the group will now run from 10.30am to 1.30pm, with an additional hour creating space for advice, activities, wellbeing workshops and opportunities to learn new skills alongside the usual shared meal.
This expanded programme has been made possible thanks to a generous £10,000 wellbeing spaces grant from Clarion Futures, helping us bring more support together in one place.
The group will continue to be shaped by the people who attend, with Chatty Tables providing a space to share experiences, discuss what’s working and help plan future sessions around what is most useful and valued.
On Tuesday 18 August we will be welcoming Chichester District Council's Supporting You team, offering free, confidential advice on benefits, managing money, debt, housing costs, employment, wellbeing and other cost of living support.
This will be followed by a hands-on workshop on Tuesday 25 August, led by Mog, WI Climate Ambassador (Rumboldswhyke WI), here you'll get practical experience with simple sewing and repair techniques for clothing and other textiles.
We'll share our September programme soon. Please sign up to our newsletter, check out our full Beyond Food: Stronger Futures programme, or keep an eye on our social media for updates!
Stand Stronger Together is free to attend and everyone is welcome. You don’t need to have received a food parcel to join us, and if you do need food support, we’ll be happy to help.
