We were absolutely delighted to welcome Councillor Harsha Desai to Chichester District Foodbank after her incredible achievement at the London Marathon.
Harsha, who is also a food bank volunteer, took on the huge challenge of running 26 miles to raise vital funds for our work supporting local families and children facing hunger across the district. Through determination, months of training and the encouragement of the community around her, Harsha has raised over £3,000 for us!
For us, this means so much more than a fundraising total. Every donation helps us provide practical support to people in our community who are going through difficult times. Harsha’s run was especially focused on helping children facing hunger.
Harsha described it as one of the biggest mental and physical challenges she had set herself, fitting training around early mornings, late evenings, work, family life, and everything else that comes with a busy schedule.
But what carried her forward was knowing that the money raised would help local children and families. That sense of purpose, together with the support of friends, neighbours, other food bank volunteers, donors and well-wishers, helped power her all the way to the finish line.
A huge thank you to Harsha, to everyone who donated, and to all those who cheered her on along the way. We are so grateful not only for the funds raised, but also for the awareness she has helped bring to the challenges faced by people in our district.
Harsha's fundraiser is still open, so if you would like to support it you can donate here.
