At Chichester District Foodbank, we’re committed to ensuring no one in our community goes hungry. Each day, we help people facing real crises – families choosing between heating and eating, individuals suddenly without income, parents skipping meals for their children. And none of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers.
Now we need you to join the team.
Even a few hours a week can make a big difference. Whether you want to build experience, meet new people, give back to your community, or share your existing skills – there’s a place for you here.
Volunteer roles available
Here’s a quick look at some of the roles you could get involved in. Chichester, Midhurst and Petworth food bank centres. For a more detailed look at the roles and locations, please head to our volunteer recruitment page here.
Warehouse Assistant / Food Packer
Sort, check, and pack food parcels at our warehouse. Great for practical, team-based work.
Delivery Driver / Van Buddy
Help deliver food parcels to people across the district. Some roles involve driving; others just require a helpful hand and a friendly face.
Cleaner
Keep our warehouse and facilities clean, safe, and welcoming. Just a few hours a week can make a huge difference.
Events Assistant
Support food collections, fundraising days, and seasonal events. Flexible and perfect for those who enjoy being out in the community.
Virtual Signposter
Speak with clients by phone and help guide them toward additional support services. Ideal for good communicators and listeners.
Handy-person
Help out with ‘odd jobs’ around our warehouse such as painting, putting up shelves or minor repairs.

What our volunteers say
“I love to listen and help people. It’s about making a deeper connection and offering support beyond the food parcel.” – Clare: Signposting Volunteer, Chichester
“You never know what’s behind the clients’ situations. Being non-judgmental and maintaining confidentiality is of paramount importance. It’s crucial that people feel it’s okay to come here; there’s no gossip.” – David: Selsey Volunteer
“We have a great team here at the warehouse. If you want to find out how much fun packing boxes can be, why not think about joining us? If boxes aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other areas within the food bank that need your help.” – Penny: Warehouse Volunteer, Chichester
