Making a difference: November 2024 figures

2nd December 2024

As we approach the end of the year, the demand for our services remains consistently high.

In November, we distributed 499 food parcels, with half of them going to children. Each parcel contains enough emergency food and essentials for three meals a day for three days – meaning we provided 4,491 meals in just one month:

  • Total parcels distributed: 499
  • For adults: 332
  • For children: 167

Our mid-year data shows that we’re still distributing nearly the same amount of food as last year. November’s totals closely mirror those from the same period in 2023.

More than food

Many in Chichester are struggling to afford life’s essentials, and they’re turning to us not only for food but for toiletries, nappies, and even pet food. Winter is especially hard, as people often face difficult choices – like heating their homes or feeding their families.

We’re working hard to understand the reasons people come to us. Partnering with referral agencies, we gather insight when issuing food vouchers or when people visit our food bank. These conversations help us connect people with organisations that offer critical support, from debt and housing advice to mental health services.

We also value feedback from those who use our food bank. We offer many ways for people to share their experiences – whether face-to-face, by phone, in small groups, or one-on-one with our campaigns coordinator. By listening, we can better advocate for meaningful change.

Your support makes all the difference

While we work toward a future where food banks are no longer needed, we rely on your generosity to continue providing emergency food to those in crisis. There are many ways to get involved:

Ways to help:

  • Donate: Food, toiletries, or financial contributions – all are crucial.
  • Volunteer: We urgently need more volunteers. Your time and kindness make a real impact.
  • Fundraise or host a collection: Organise a food drive or event with your school, workplace or community.
  • Spread the word: Share our mission on social media to help us reach more people.

Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for standing with us. Find out more about how you can support us here.
