Chichester District Foodbank Celebrates Community Heroes at High Sheriff’s Awards Ceremony

10th April 2024

In a heartwarming celebration of community spirit and dedication, the former High Sheriff for West Sussex, Andy Bliss QPM, hosted an Awards Ceremony at Thakeham Village Hall this March. The event, attended by representatives from various charities and organisations across West Sussex, shone a light on the “great and valuable services to the community.”

Andy Bliss, appointed by King Charles as the first High Sheriff in West Sussex, emphasised the importance of supporting the judiciary, police, emergency services, as well as charities and volunteers. “In my year in office, I have travelled across the County… I have been amazed at the number of people who quietly volunteer their time to do their bit for their community,” he remarked, highlighting the age range of volunteers from as young as 4 to well into their 80s.”

The Awards Ceremony recognised several organisations for their profound impact on people’s lives, from safeguarding against crime and food poverty to enriching lives through music, gardening, and museums. Andy Bliss expressed his gratitude, stating, “My congratulations to all of those organisations which received recognition certificates. They are richly deserved. Thank you for making our wonderful County a better place in which to live and visit.”
