Our large team of volunteers help us provide vital services to our community, and get involved in many aspects of our day-to-day operations.
From sorting items at our warehouse and delivering emergency food parcels to guiding clients to support services and helping fundraise at events, our work is only possible through their dedication.
We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.
Chichester Volunteer Vacancies
Food Bank Driver (van driver/assistant at warehouse collecting donations fortnightly Mondays 8am to 2pm)
By volunteering as a Warehouse driver / van assistant, you will play a key role in the operation of the food bank. Collecting food donations from a variety of locations, supermarkets, churches, schools etc and delivering to our warehouse and to various local distribution centres. As well as being a professional face of our food bank, you will make a real difference to people’s lives providing vital help and support in your local community.
As part of the warehouse team, you will need to be organised and have an eye for detail; this includes following a schedule of collections / deliveries, checking, weighing and recording stock in & out at the warehouse.

Food Parcel Delivery Team
We have vacancies for a delivery driver and buddy to deliver food parcels to clients around the Chichester area – anywhere between Lavant and the Witterings. The available shifts are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays morning or afternoon. You can sign up for one or more shifts per week/fortnight, alternatively, we would welcome volunteers on an ad hoc basis. We will reimburse fuel costs.
If you are applying as a couple, please apply for each role separately. You will still be a team going out to clients, as we need to have two people delivering parcels at any one time.

Events Volunteer
Support the food bank by volunteering at events across Chichester to help those in need. Roles include assisting with seasonal events, supermarket collections, money collections, and driving the van to pick up donations.
Event volunteering is flexible, making it ideal for those with busy schedules, as many opportunities are one-off or outside regular hours. Your efforts will make a real difference in your community.

Warehouse Assistant (Thursday: midday to 3pm)
As the vital link between incoming food donations and those in need, you’ll help ensure your local food bank runs smoothly. Leading a team in the warehouse, you’ll sort, pack, and manage stock- checking, weighing, recording, and organising by date and type. This hands-on role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to keeping the space clean and safe.

Warehouse Assistant (stockroom & shop counter re-stocking)
As a key link between incoming donations and those in need, you’ll help keep the food bank running smoothly. Your main duties will include restocking the storeroom and shop counter, with additional support to the warehouse team when needed—sorting, packing, and organising food. You’ll need to be organised, detail-focused, and comfortable with checking, weighing, and recording stock. This is a physical role, requiring time on your feet, some heavy lifting, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
Ideally, the role involves 2–3 hours in the morning on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. It can be shared between multiple volunteers.

Food Bank Administrator (inputting warehouse data, 2-3 hours per week)
You’ll use your administrative skills to help ensure the smooth running of the local food bank. Well-organised and detail-focused, with strong IT skills, you’ll support the Warehouse Supervisor by logging stock movements, maintaining accurate records, and securely storing data and paperwork to minimise risk.

Food Bank Cleaner (3 hours per week, Mondays or Thursdays)
We are looking for two cleaners to maintain our facilities by carrying out cleaning and basic maintenance duties. The aim is to keep the building safe, clean, and well-presented. These roles cover our client area, offices, WCs, and small kitchen, with 3-hour shifts on Monday mornings and Thursday afternoons. The positions can be worked separately or jointly as a team.

Food Bank Odd Job / Maintenance Volunteer (2-3 hours per week)
We are looking for someone to carry out basic maintenance duties, whether painting, putting up shelves or even changing lightbulbs! We would welcome anyone who has the necessary skills and is available for a couple of hours per week.

Midhurst & Petworth Volunteer Vacancies
Virtual Signposting Coordinator: covering Midhurst and Petworth areas.
If you would like to be part of a small team who work directly with our clients over the phone to help them access the support they need, then we would love to hear from you. You will have a good telephone manner and be comfortable talking with people from all walks of life. Training and support is given. Some initial training takes place in Chichester.

Delivery Driver
We are looking for enthusiastic and confident people to join our delivery team at Midhurst and Petworth Foodbank. As a delivery team member you will play a vital role in getting donated items to clients in Petworth and surrounding villages.
This role is fully flexible, delivery requests go into a WhatsApp chat and you can just volunteer when you can. We deliver in pairs so this is a great opportunity to volunteer with a friend/partner.
