Welcome to our new CEO, Sarah Adams

23rd January 2025

As 2024 came to a close, Chichester District Foodbank bid a heartfelt farewell to its founder and CEO, Joanne Kondabeka. Taking over as CEO is Sarah Adams, who has been a key part of the food bank team for over five years, first as Warehouse Manager and more recently as Operations Manager.

Sarah joined Chichester District Foodbank in 2019, bringing with her a wealth of experience from running her own business with her husband. She quickly put her skills to work, helping to meet the increasing demand for the food bank’s services.

In 2022, Sarah stepped into the role of Operations Manager, where she played a pivotal role in expanding the food bank’s work beyond food provision, connecting clients with vital support services, including Citizens Advice and other local agencies, to address the root causes of poverty and crisis.

Reflecting on her new role, Sarah said: “I am honoured to lead Chichester District Foodbank as its new CEO. Our vision to end the need for food banks is ambitious but achievable, and I’m excited to build on the incredible work already being done. Emergency food provision remains at the heart of what we do, but helping people move past crisis is key to ensuring lasting change”.

“I want to thank our volunteers, who are the lifeblood of the food bank, and our hardworking staff team, whose dedication makes such a difference. And to our supporters – your generosity over the years has been invaluable. Together, we will keep making an impact.”

Richard Meredith, Chichester District Foodbank’s Chair of Trustees said: “we could not be more delighted with Sarah taking over as our CEO. With her wealth of operational knowledge, her vision for the future of the food bank, and her empathy for our clients, Sarah was the ideal person to succeed Joanne. The Trustees very much look forward to working with Sarah in developing our services to best serve those in need.”
