Chichester District Foodbank is pleased to announce that it has secured a new home in Petworth, thanks to the generous support of Lord Egremont and his Leconfield estate team.
This move is a temporary solution while we continue our search for a long-term lease. Our previous location at the United Reform Church, where we had a successful and happy tenure, is no longer available as the building is being sold.
“We are deeply grateful for the incredible support from Lord Egremont and the Leconfield estate team during this transition period,” said Joanne Kondabeka, CEO and Founder of Chichester District Foodbank. “Their generosity has provided us with a home at Upper Barn, ensuring that we can continue to serve the community without interruption.”
Starting 31 August 2024, the Foodbank will operate out of the Upper Barn. While this location serves as a good interim solution for our exclusively delivery-based services, we are still actively seeking alternative accommodations that will better serve our community’s needs in Petworth. We have been incredibly fortunate to have been offered space at Upper Barn, which allows us to maintain our services while we look for a permanent location. We encourage community members who can help us find a suitable space, or who know of any available premises in Petworth, to get in touch with us.
“We are extremely grateful to our Petworth volunteers and the community at large for pulling together to keep a foodbank service in Petworth and surrounding villages,” said Emily Seex, Operations Coordinator at Chichester District Foodbank. “If any local organisations can assist with the move, we’d appreciate your help.”
Our move to Upper Barn represents a crucial step in ensuring that we can continue to provide vital support to those in need. We look forward to working closely with the Petworth community and beyond to secure a permanent home for our services.
