Harvest Festival: How you can support your community

22nd August 2024

As the autumn season approaches, so does the annual tradition of Harvest Festival, a time when schools, churches, and communities come together to give thanks for the abundance of the harvest and to support those in need. Chichester District Foodbank is deeply connected to this tradition, and we want to invite you to participate in any way you can.

Every year, schools and churches across the district collect non-perishable food items to donate to local foodbanks, including ours. These donations are essential in helping us provide emergency food parcels to individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet. By supporting these collections, you are directly contributing to the wellbeing of your community.

If you’re looking for a way to make an even bigger impact, consider hosting your own Harvest collection at work, with friends, or within your community group. Organising a collection is a fantastic way to bring people together for a good cause. It’s simple to do, just reach out to us for guidance on the most needed items, and we’ll provide you with all the information you need to get started.

The items collected during Harvest Festival are crucial to stocking our shelves and ensuring that we can continue to provide support throughout the year. With the ongoing challenges many families face, your contributions are more important than ever. Every tin, packet, and box donated helps us to continue our mission of ensuring that no one in Chichester District goes hungry.

Whether you choose to support your local school or church, or host your own collection, your involvement makes a significant difference or perhaps even book a member of our team to talk to your organisation. For more information on how you can help, please contact [email protected] or via telephone on 0776 591 5357 for resources and ideas on how to start your own Harvest collection.

Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can make this year’s Harvest Festival the most impactful one yet.
