Masons Donate £1,000 to Petworth Foodbank Centre

Petworth Masonic Lodge recently donated £1,000 to support the Petworth Centre of Chichester District Foodbank. The lodge’s Master, Roddy Bruce, along with members Roger Dallyn and Neville Fox, presented the cheque to Foodbank volunteers Julie and Sally at the United Reformed Church.

Ines Garcia, Operations Coordinator for Petworth and Midhurst Foodbank Centres expressed gratitude for the generous donation, emphasising its significant impact on struggling households during the festive season. The Petworth Masonic Lodge’s commitment to community welfare is evident through such charitable initiatives, making a positive difference in the local community.

In a week filled with activity, volunteers, including Julie and Sally, diligently prepared and dispatched food deliveries to the Petworth District. The Foodbank’s vital role is sustained by support from various collection points, including Petworth Coop, Fittleworth Village Stores, Graffham Stores, Southdown Chiropractic, and local churches.

Founded in 1935, the Petworth Masonic Lodge has a rich history of community involvement. With 160 Lodges in West Sussex, the Masons prioritise charitable giving, ranking second nationwide only to the National Lottery. Contributions are sourced from members’ subscriptions and regular donations, reflecting the collective commitment to supporting local causes. Chichester District Foodbank is honoured to be one of the chosen charities for this year’s contribution, highlighting the collaborative effort to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
